There will definitely be more pictures than words to describe the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo show! After our delicious meal we were escorted down through the castle grounds back to the forecourt where we took our seats. We had brilliant seats courtesy of the RBS Hospitality package with a perfect view of the castle as well as all of the performers.
I had never really seen much of the Tattoo before. I remember it being on TV when I was younger and not showing much interest, as a night of encountering bagpipes, marching bands and highland dancers were not appealing prospects to spend an evening. However the REMT completely blew my socks off, it was a spectacle of a show with excitement, emotion, talent, drama, and fireworks!
The theme of the show as part of Scotland’s ‘Homecoming’ year was “Our Home, Friends and Family”. I won’t be saying too much about the show just in case any of you blog readers will be attending, but my favourite parts included a section reminiscent of the film “Local Hero” (one of Mr B’s favourite films) and the finale which took a musical tour through the years.
My tips if you are thinking about going to the Tattoo:
· GO! You won’t regret it!
· Take a camera (I took 400 photos!)
· Take waterproofs and layers to keep you warm. You can never bet on the weather that Edinburgh will throw at you!
· Did I mention GO already?
I won two tickets and associated hospitality in an RBS prize draw. I was under no obligation to blog about this experience – I simply wanted to share our night out with all of you 🙂
