Today, I’m joining in with Glasgow Mummy’s series of posts – Smitten Saturday. I enjoy reading her blog, particularly at the weekend to see what she’s rating each week. In the usual way that I find new blogs to read, I found Glasgow Mummy through another Glasgow based blog! It’ a goal of mine to put more effort into commenting on other blogs – I am definitely what people in the blogging world call a ‘blurker’ as I flit from blogpost to blogpost, so todays effort is a first step! Now that I am on Bloglovin’ (follow me by clicking on the button on the right) it’s a lot easier to find blogs and catch up on posts if I’ve missed out on them as they’ve been published. Anyway, I digress…
Yesterday I was smitten with VelocityLove cafe in Inverness. I found out about it through (you guessed it!) a blog post detailing lots of fun cafes in Inverness. Even though I’ve only lived in Inverness for almost 5 months, I feel that I have got a good grasp of the local cafes – but didn’t know about this one! It’s tucked up a hill just off the pedestrianised high street. It’s not only a cafe but a bicycle workshop and a place that encourages bike riding. Now I’m not really an experienced bike rider, but the whole cafe, atmosphere and ethos of the place makes me want to jump on a bike. Also the whole place was bright, light and airy, with vintage seating and condiments. If you know me well, you will know that this is JUST my kind of place!
As it was my first visit, I just decided to pop in for a spot of lunch after my visit to the swimming pool. Velocity is a veggie/vegan cafe. The options were sandwiches, with lots of different filings to choose from, soup, or salad bowl. I went for a salad bowl that had lots of different salad combinations within it. They include: home-made houmus, butterbean-celery-mustard, mixed leaves and cucumber strips, tabbouleh, and tomato-basil-mozzerella. I washed it down with some homemade lemon ice tea which was perfect for such a humid day. It would have been simply rude not to sample a cake too, so I tried a raspberry and almond slice (but there were lots of amazing options to choose from!). Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the cake, but here is the salad in all its glory!
Definitely a place that I will be coming back to!
