It’s one of those times where blogging feels like something that I do quite regularly, until I just looked at the date of my last post! It’s to fair to say that November has been a busy month and now we’re into Advent. However, as well as looking forward to Christmas, December will also be the mostly the month of packing, as we are getting ready to leave Fife at the beginning of next month. As we’re still waiting to see where Mr B gets a job we will moving to his sister’s place near Falkirk where I can still commute to Edinburgh for the time being.
It’s a time we’ve known was coming ever closer, but now it’s actually here! I think that I am quite ready emotionally to leave Kinghorn in some ways. It’s been hard at times with feeling much like an outsider with a real lack of friendships, any chat with people that goes past the superficial and friends close by that we can spend time with (Although that did change in the summer when Do-Ho came back to Fife!). Obviously I’m comparing it to London, which I loved (and still do and have regular heart pangs for!) where I felt like I ‘fitted in’ and knew that it was home. Now, I know that the move to Scotland was the right one, but it still takes time for somewhere new to graduate into that ‘home’ territory.
We’ve been so lucky to have close friends from London who have visited us in Fife and who we’ve been able to share something of our new life in Scotland, those who I met half way in York for a girlie weekend (that was a very horrible return journey in June knowing I was going back on my own north, whilst my lovely friends were heading together back south -think bawling on the platform, trying not to look like an absolute nutcase!). There’s also been blook club, which I’m really grateful for finding out about (thanks Kate and Zoe!) and has been a lot of fun.
What I’m getting round to saying is that I intend going to take a break from blogging – not too long I hope, but enough time to finish the packing, enjoy Christmas, move house, work out where the heck we might be in 3 or more months time. Give me a month, or maybe more (I figure since January is ‘no-money month’ I well might be huddled under a duvet catching up on the blogs I follow, so may manage a post or two).
Maybe this is a more serious post from the usual, I’ll be back to sharing photos, recipes and life soon.
